The DHF organised a very successful tour of the Deccan and its historical wonders in January 2015. Starting in Hyderabad and finishing in the great metropolis of Mumbai, it involved a two week trip through over 2000 years of history. We visited ruined cities such as Bidar; saw palaces of sultans and emperors from Dungarpur to Maheshwar; and experienced some of the most stunning religious sites in all of India including the Hindu temple of Rani-Ki-Vav in Patan, the Jainist temple at Ranakpur, and the Jama Masjid Mosque in Champaner (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), to name just a few. Along the way we stayed in the most luxurious hotels the Deccan has to offer (as well as a few former royal palaces), sipped tea floating down sacred rivers, and marvelled at the ingenuity of the people who built monuments to gods or kings which have outlasted entire civilisations. This tour was made possible by a partnership with RightTours India. Click on the download link below for a full itinerary and details of every location we visited.
